How to Use This Site
Step 1. Read the rules. Before you do anything, it is probably best that you know what you are getting yourself into. We are fair, but we will enforce the rules that we have in place. Without order there is chaos. We prefer to save the chaos for the roleplays. It is better for everyone that way. This site does maintain certain standards in order to make roleplaying more enjoyable for everyone.
Step 2. Choose a species. This is the first step towards character creation. Which side are you on? Are you a whimsical fae, a chaotic daemon, a vagabond shapeshifter, a cold human, or a mysterious outcast? Your species will determine how others initially act towards your character, where you are expected to go, and many basic personality characteristics. It determines the social and cultural expectations of your character (not that you aren’t allowed to rebel against them!).
Please be sure to read all information regarding your selected species. We can tell if you don’t and your application will be rejected if it doesn’t conform to our site’s layout.
Step 3. Fill out a Character Application. This part is simple and should be fun. All you have to do is click on your species board. Go to the sub-board that says “Character Applications”. Check out the application you will find there. Create a thread and post your very own character application. Be as creative or plain as you want! A staff member will then approve your character.
Step 4. Play! There are tons of places to explore in Litharia! Create a thread or join another. Make sure you specify if the thread is Open to the public or Closed by invitation. Please respect Closed threads and do not join them. Feel free to plot on the Plotting and Scheming board or make adoptables in the Adoptables board. You can even keep a journal or spell book for your character!
Important Note! We here at Litharia ask that you do make separate accounts for each character. This is because our magic system is based on individual post counts and we need separate accounts so we can monitor post counts. Thanks to proboards setup, it is very easy to create many accounts and switch between them without logging in our out.
Rules
1. This is a PG-13 site. Members under the age of thirteen are not allowed without a parent’s expressed permission. Unfortunately, it is simple to lie about your age so we have no real way to enforce this rule. Note that content on this site may be inappropriate for children under thirteen. In character drug use, sexual activity, violence, and mature themes are likely to be found.
2. As stated above, in character contains many mature themes. We would like to note that things like drug use, sexual situations, and moderate violence do not need to be marked with a warning however explicit sexual content and extreme violence MUST be marked with a warning at the opening of the thread.
3. Love each other! Okay, that may be taking it to an extreme. We don’t all have to like each other, but do try not to be vindictive. If someone if pestering you, complain to a staff member and it will be dealt with. Fighting should be done among characters, not members. Litharia should be a happy place for everyone. Please be supportive and friendly. Jerks have no place here.
4. Roleplaying posts should be a minimum of 50 words. 200 is considered average. Your character has five senses, a head full of thoughts, and a myriad of actions. We’re sure you can find something to write about! Roleplaying is an art that revolves around writing. Weare assuming you can write! 50 words is only one small paragraph. Naturally, this rule is null and void on the Character Chat board.
