Personality: Gwendolyn is a sweetheart. She is incredibly gullible and sensitive to others, although she has a bit of a temper. She has a very fragile heart, but it has grown stronger from her recent ordeals.
History: Gwendolyn used to be a noble. A human noble, the daughter of a duchess. She had loved her life, loved the lyre that she held and sang with every afternoon, with the sun's dying light. She was engaged to the love of her life, Kaio, and she was enthralled with her life. She was beautiful, loved, and wealthy. What more could she want of of her life? Unfortunately, her happiness was not to last. On the eve of her wedding, she was twirling around her chambers, singing and strumming her lyre and dancing in the dying sunlight in her wedding dress, when a half-incubus, half-sanguine vampire climbed in through her balcony window and attacked her. Because he thought her beautiful, he spared her life by turning her to a Daemon. She woke up to the horror of finding out she wasn't who she thought she really was. Gwendolyn went to her wedding, hoping no one would notice. However, her fiancee did and screamed at her, calling her a monster. Her family was horrified, and she begged them to understand that she was still the same person as before, but they would not listen. They disowned her and she wandered away, heartbroken.
She met the Daemon Lord Gabriel and a vampire named Sergio, both of whom helped teach her how to handle herself in the real world, where dangers were abundant and the world was not so friendly. She soon found herself to be in love with the Daemon Lord, much to her dismay. He indulged the Sanguine side of her nature, and Gwendolyn was entirely smitten. It wouldn't be until much later that she found she was merely in love with the idea of being in love, not the Daemon Lord himself.
She took to wandering for a while more, meeting on her travels many people, including the Daemon Rio and the Shifter Theseus, both of whom she felt sparks of romantic love for, neither of whom she saw ever again.
Eventually she stumbled across a notice posted by a healer, looking for an apprentice. She went to meet the healer named Rosalind, and the two became fast friends. She decided to be Rosalind's apprentice.
Roleplay Sample:
She stared in the mirror at her reflection. Her large, silver blue eyes gazed back from behind the veil, wide and bright with excitement. Her long blonde hair cascaded down her back to her waist, some ringlets and the rest her pin-straight locks. Two perfect curls framed her heart-shaped face, cream in color, and her shell-pink lips parted slightly to allow her to release a sigh of happiness. Her wedding dress was perfect, a tight top made of satin that hugged her frame, and a flared, flowing ball gown bottom, a sash in a beautiful bow around her waist. A silver tiara, encrusted with diamonds, kept the veil in place on top her golden curls.
She turned from her reflection and flounced to her bed. Grabbing her lyre, she sat and strummed it with her tiny fingers, allowing it to emit a single pure note that she copied with her tremulous voice. Again she strummed and sang, and once more. Then she started to play, standing up and singing wordlessly. She sang out to the world her joy, her happiness, her contentment. She was perfect, she was to be married tomorrow. She twirled around, letting her dress spin out around her as she spun and sang her melodious tune. It carried all over the castle, to the courtyard and through the hallways, a clear, glorious sound that seemed to shimmer in the air, accompanied by the high, pure notes of the lyre.
Eventually she slowed, and her tones became less triumphant and more sweet as she sang to her love, Kaio. The notes became more long and wavering, hovering over purposeful breaks and sharps. She sang softer but her voice still seemed to fly with a mind of its own. She sang so soft and sweet, closing her eyes and feeling the last bits of the dying sun on her face, that she did not hear him as he crept up behind her. She slowly let her voice tremble as it grew quieter and more melancholy, leading up to the closing note in the song, a long, low, undulating cry that seemed to resonate in the depths of her bones. As she bowed her head at the finish, she felt a hand run along the side of her face, gently. She turned to greet Kaio and stopped dead, her greeting caught in her throat, as she took in his pale skin and amethyst-colored eyes, and knew almost immediately what he was.
A vampire.
He stepped in closer to Gwendolyn. "Hello, dove," he purred, his voice low and seductive. He leaned towards her, and as she tried to back away, his arm snaked around her waist and held her to him. "Now, now, let's not have you trying to go anywhere, my lovely," he chuckled, running a finger from her hairline to her jaw. "I'm hungry, and you sounded so beautiful." She could only stare at him in wordless horror, watch as he held her with his hypnotic eyes and leaned closer and closer in towards her as he spoke. "In fact, I think it would be a shame to ruin such beauty, love. And so..." He smiled, exposing the fangs in his mouth, and leaned in to press his cold lips against her neck. He whispered, "I'll be gone by the time you wake." She did not flinch as he bit, did not scream as he drank, only closed her eyes and allowed one tear to leak from the corner of her eye, feeling the fatigue rushing to her as her vision blurred and faded to blackness.
"Good night, beautiful."
Gwendolyn is in possesion of Temptation's Ring, gifted to her by the god Tataryn. If she is wearing it while singing or humming, she is granted the power to take away any form of pain from others. In addition, she can make herself the object of others' desire.
