To be frank, Akira was not the best at hunting in human form; and as the sunlight streaked through the dense leaves of the trees above, it was becoming more apparent with every step she took. Part of her wished she could just poof into a hawk and be done with it, but it didn't really work that way: especially for people who can't control their powers. Still, a pair of razor sharp talons and large speckled wings would've been nice, at least for the purpose of hare hunting. There was no way she would ever be able to shoot a small bird with the sleek ivory bow she held in her hands, nor a fast-moving hare. It's a surprise the young shifter had been managing to live off the land for as long as she had, after all, three years is quite the time to be by oneself. However, the girl enjoyed it immensely, not having to worry about being caught by the humans and sold into slavery was rather satisfying after all. Though it did mean no contact with other people.
Not that Akira minded at all.
Other beings were a commodity Akira felt that was unneeded in her life, as all they did were lie, cheat, steal, and try to force unwilling young women into arranged marriages. The latter of which Akira took to great personal offense. Still, that didn't mean she didn't get lonely from time to time. Especially when she was unsuccessfully trying to hunt. The leaves rustled slightly at each of the girl's poor attempts to shoot down a target, each time another well-crafted arrow flying into the forest, probably never to be seen again. It was as if the trees were laughing at her, and Akira didn't take kindly to the notion, her anger growing bit by bit as her shots kept getting wilder and wilder. Of course her anger wasn't helping her focus at all, and the girl's normally wide and attentive eyes narrowed in frustration as she stared down another hare bouncing around. With a deep breath, she retrieved another arrow from her quiver (incidentally the last arrow in her quiver) and set it gently onto the bow. She drew her arm back, took another deep breath, and released on the exhale.
"Aha! Bulls-eye. Aki-lucky strikes again!" The girl exclaimed, jumping up into the air lightly before realizing she was probably scaring off all the other wild-life in the air. Well, if her cascade of arrows didn't do it already. Akira murmured a short thank you prayer before approaching the dying animal's body, quickly pulling out a knife and putting the creature out of its misery. There was no point for it to sit there and suffer, after all, since the shot hadn't actually been lethal. The shifter gently picked the hare up from the ground, turning to find somewhere to properly devour it in peace.
A snapping sound reverberated through the air, and in an instant Akira was on her knee; bow pulled and recently used arrow fitted snugly onto it. While she couldn't quite hit a smaller target, the shifter knew she could at least wound an attacker lest something goes amiss. The breeze lifted up the small, downy pieces of honey brown hair loose from the girl's ponytail as a heavy silence seemed to fill the air. Something didn't smell right, or at least, not to Akira. Of course, hawks aren't exactly renowned for their sense of smell. Still, Akira thought something fishy seemed to be going on, at least in a figurative sense. Although... fish did sound quite appetizing to the young shifter's hungry belly, and it growled loudly at the thought.
