Above: The sun sets on a cool summer day in the Forest of the Fae.
This is the most peaceful place in Litharia for the fae, with the clear exception of the Mound. This forest is bright, beautiful, and outwardly innocent. The birds sing, the crickets chirp, and when the wolves howl it sounds more like music than the call of a hungry predator. In spring, the place is filled with green and speckled with bright colored flowers. In Autumn is boasts the most breathtaking array of reds, oranges, yellows, and golds.
The weather is always pleasant…Never too cold and never too hot. The winter brings snow and frosty breath, but it the temperature never seems to drop so low that a simple fur coat won’t warm you right up! In the summer, the breeze flows through the forest like the breath of life. There is always plenty of food and plenty of water. This forest seems like the perfect place to live.
That is, so long as you are fae. All that fae have to worry about is territory disputes between them and other fae or animals. Daemons are usually able to pass through with minor dangers, the worst being from untrusting and hostile fae or perhaps a desperate pack of wolves. All others, humans in particular, have an entirely different force that they must contend with. See, the Forest of the Fae is alive.
This part of Litharia has yet to be touched by human poisons and still pulses with magical life. The flora move. The fauna become rabid around outsiders. This forest has its own defense system. Should a human wander into this forest, the trees and animals will do everything in their power to make sure that human does not make it out alive. This forest can be particularly cruel…
