Above: A stunning view of The Homeland
The Homeland is massive; almost big enough to be considered a continent in and of itself. It’s peaceful and secluded and very…orderly. It lacks the utter wild of Litharia, though it is still a place of magic. The Homeland is quiet and gives off the air of a ghost town. It may feel haunted. You’ll feel as though every move you make is being watched. Like you’re being followed. Of course, The Homeland is as lively as any other place. The difference is the natives. They’re good at hiding and are easy to miss. Oh, and a good fifty percent of them are very short.
The natives aren’t very fond of visitors. Why should they be? For hundreds of years the outcasts have lived there, prevented from entering Litharia for reasons unknown to them. Why did the gods cast them out? Now that the ban has been lifted, many outcasts have decided to make their way to Litharia. Sure, they seem nice enough. But those that chose to stay back are more likely to retain the bitterness of being trapped on their island. They don’t like Litharia, its gods, or its people. So that probably makes the peaceful island a bad place to plan a family outing.
If you do decide to show up, you’ll discover a wide array of places and people. You won’t find whorehouses. The angels don’t like them and they tend to be very pushy when it comes to things they don’t like. Plus, the halflings prefer innocent fun (and they’re a bit on the cheap side anyway). Dwarves seem to have better things to do. And the shadows simply didn’t think of it. Don’t worry, though. There’s still plenty of alcohol. In fact, the halflings make the best mead you’ll ever find, with just a hint of raspberry.
Overall, The Homeland is a bright, cheerful, innocent place full of people who will probably hate you. And the further you delve, the more hatred you will find. It seems the more powerful the angel, the colder the heart. And a lot of shadows seem to have issues. Dwarves are grouchy creatures. And halflings? They’re suspicious of anything taller than them. The flora and fauna aren’t your worries this time. It’s all about the natives. The good news is, if you ARE one of the natives then you’ll feel right at home! The land is beautiful, warm, and pretty much perfect.
