Derrek was done with the world.
He was lonely, bored, and useless. As a shifter, he could not be a part of the human army. As a shifter who is unfamiliar with what exactly shifters do, he was not able to do anything in that species' department. What was a man that held high expectations of himself to do, then? The woman he was beginning to fall for probably wanted nothing to do with him since he was a shifter; that and he did not want to trouble her with the noble and shifter couple politics. The one he considered a son was growing up and becoming more independent than he already was. It'd been months yet again since Derrek last saw Matthias, and part of him wondered if he would get the chance to see the boy again.
He really, sincerely hopped so.
After wandering for those few months, trying to decide on what to do with his life, the once human man gave up. He had trained himself to control his true form, which was that of a Noble Dragon, but it was all he managed to accomplish. Now he was subconsciously trying to get himself killed, because at this point, life was too lonely without the people he cared about.
In his true form, Derrek was lying on a field. Next to his mouth was a sack of goods, consisting of clothing, food, and water. Judging by the amount of dirt and work put into the field, it was a harvest field of some sort. There were no crops currently there however, so Derrek was not doing any real damage. No damage besides giving the family that lived less than a mile away from the field heart attacks from the site of a massive dragon casually lounging on their farm. The family had come out early that morn only to run back inside their quaint little farm house. For the moment, there was no help anywhere close by for them. With the cliffs off in the distance, their farm was the only one in a large radius.
Derrek was not entirely alone though, he supposed. He did have the Noble Griffon, Triphus, sleeping on his back, but that was about it. The griffon constantly lifted its head to look off at the Cliffs in the distance, eager to get back to the home it missed. Sadly, Derrek was not sure he could handle losing hus hybrid companion either.
Clouds covered the sun, which kept Derrek from overheating. The wind was still and the farm quiet besides the occasional, panicky call of a farm animal that saw his presence. If the farmers tried to kill him, he'd probably let it happen. Actually that was why he was purposely "harassing" the family. All he wanted was an end.
