Alistair had heard a rumor; that one of his men had actually abandoned their post to go out drinking with a bunch of drunken nobles. The other man that was on duty with him, a burly fellow named Ideucan, reported it before heading to the barracks for rest. The very idea infuriated the Royal Guard Commander to where, instead of sending a hound to collect the man, he had gone himself.
Even though he was not too particularly good at riding horses, Alistair grabbed one of the swift, messenger ones in the stables. It was a rather beautiful, palomino male with a bright and clean coat. As he had hoped, when asked to trot, canter, or gallop, he responded immediately and was quicker than the massive war horses their cavalry used for potential battles. Running along with him was his trusty war hound, a mabari named Brax.
According to Ideucan, the man was at a upper class bar known as the Crimson Tavern. Alistair had visited once before. Not being a fan of liquor himself, he was not there long, nor did he ever return. Until now. The worst part of it all was that he had to publicly arrest the man for desertion of his position. It was a petty crime, but one that actually turned the sarcastic and witty Commander into a man with a purpose. He was not dressed in his heavy plate, but rather his chainmail. It was of a thick gauge and consisted of a basic shirt and a coif that covered his head. Over the mail he wore a simple tabard that had dark blue edges and a forest green base. It was tied down by a black leather belt which held a sword sheathe that contained one of his many long swords which were finer than steel itself. On the front of the tabard was the symbol for the Royal Guards; a majestic lion that was reared up on its hind legs with its jaw open wide and claws pointed out. It's background consisted of a Standard kite shield with two swords going behind it, and hanging off one of the hilts was a royal crown. On the back of the tabard was the symbol for his house, Theoden, which consisted of two simple reefs. Plated greaves over leather protected his legs and feet, while strapped on his back was his own kite shield which also contained the symbol of his house.
The sound of hooves on cobblestone filled the air as he continued to make his way towards the tavern. All who saw him made no move as to converse or even greet him, for they recognized the expression on his features and dared not feel his wrath, as it would consist of mockery and sarcasm. Finally, after half an hour of riding, he found the blasted place.
Alistair moved his left leg to be on the same as his right and quickly slid of the horse. Brax awaited for his master's command and sat down. To make sure the horse was not spooked off, he tied its bridal to one of the posts outside. Once Alistair moved towards the building, the mabari moved with him. With him standing up past Alistair's waist when on all fours, Brax was perfect for intimidation. With a big intake of breath, he placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and pushed open the door of the Crimson Tavern.
