A Newbie’s Guide to Litharia.
If, at any time during this walkthrough, you feel confused…You are more than welcome to PM a staff member or ask a question in the FAQ. Please be sure to read the FAQ before posting a question. We may have already answered it!
So you’ve just become a member. Now what?
Like most sites, you may want to start with the rules. There aren’t many. We hope we do not need to add more. We’re all mature teens and adults, riiiight? That link will also provide you with a helpful, step-by-step guide on what to do!
Moving on…
The next thing you may want to check out is The Brief Summary of Litharia’s History.
Right. So now you know the setting. Still with us? Awesome. Why don’t you hop on over to the OOC area and introduce yourself!
Okay so now you’ve got the setting and you’ve made some friends, right? I hope so. Now it’s time to make a character. Make sure you do your homework and read all about the:
While you’re there, you may want to check out some of the approved characters as a reference!
Also, please check out the Adoptables. You may find a character you like there! And they’re all free for the taking. For information on Adoptables, go here.
Didn’t find an adoptable that suits you? That’s fine! Let’s make a character!
Referred By: If a member of the site referred you, please put their name here. We do offer awards for member referral and I'm sure that member will appreciate the mention! You only need to do this once.
Name: Always put your character’s full name here, whether the character knows it or not.
Nickname(s): Any titles or aliases your character is commonly called.
Played By: Your name. Or rather, the name we know you by.
Age: Please be old enough to fend for yourself and young enough to move. More information regarding age may be found in the FAQ.
Date of Birth: Please provide a month and a day. All characters must have a date of birth.
Sexuality: Please specify your character’s sexual orientation.
Kith/Blood/Breed/Practice: What is the specific species of your character?
Abilities: You may choose one ability at character creation. You will gain one ability every fifty posts. The abilities are listed under the Genus Books (see the Fae, Daemon, Shapeshifter, and Human links above). To create an ability of your own, PM a staff member with the ability application specified in the Genus Book.
Loyalty: Specify where your character’s loyalty lies. The shifters? Daemons? No one? Family? It can vary!
Status/Occupation: What titles does your character carry and/or how does your character live?
Appearance: What does your character look like?
Personality: How does your character act?
History: What makes your character they are today?
Roleplay Sample: Show us one of your average posts. (now an optional edition – highly recommended for your first character)
To Post An Application:
1. Click on the Genus you chose for your character (Fae, Daemon, Shapeshifter, Human).
2. Click on the Character Applications Sub-board.
3. Click the button that says “New Thread” in the top right corner.
4. Post your app. If it is not ready, add {WIP} next to it. If it is ready, add {Awaiting Approval} next to it.
Now you only have to wait for a staff member to approve it! If there are any edits that need to be made, a staff member will let you know. These edits must be complete before a character will be approved.
Now you have character! What next?
You could try plotting on the Plotting and Scheming board, make your character a journal or some such on the Journals and Writings board, join an open thread, or post a thread on your own!
Starting a thread is easy. Simply click on the board you wish to post in, click the “New Thread” button, and type up your intro. Be sure to use descriptive words. Set the mood, describe the setting, and let us know what your character looks like and what your character is doing.
Responding to a thread is just as easy! Click on the thread in question, click on the “reply” button on the bottom left or use the quick reply box. That simple!
Did you know?
-By checking the bookmark option when you post or by clicking the bookmark button on the top left of a thread, you may save the thread to your profile for easy reference. To see your bookmarked threads, simply click on the profile button located under the Litharian banner, then click “Bookmarks”.
-You may choose your own display name, avatar, signature, and posting font! Click on the profile button under the Litharian banner and then click “Modify Profile”.
-You may choose to have a pop-up alert you when you have a new PM! This makes it much easier to notice when you have a new message.
1. Scroll down to the Info Center at the bottom of Litharia's home page. On the right side of the Forum Statistics box there will be an area that says 'Your Personal Messages' followed by a number. Click that number to get to your inbox.
2. Click the 'Preferences' button on the far right.
3. Now you can block users, add an e-mail notification for PM's, or add the alert box.
4. Don't forget to click 'Save Preferences' when you're done!
Now it’s time to explore! Have fun! And send us a PM if you need any help.
Thank you for joining Litharia. May the Litharian gods be with you.
